Case filed against US, Amazon, Google, Microsoft in US for using biometric data without reporting



Two Illinois citizens have filed lawsuits against tech companies Amazon, Google and Microsoft. These companies are accused of using their faces without asking them both for training of facial recognition system. The petition claims that doing so by tech companies is a violation of the Biometric Information Privacy Act. Both the plaintiffs have demanded compensation of 5-5 thousand dollars.

Petitioners Stevens Vance and Tim Jensick allege that their faces were used in IBM's Diversity in Faces database. Later Amazon, Google and Microsoft used it for their app. Both applicants have issued notices to Amazon, Google and Microsoft. So far Microsoft has responded. She said she was taking the privacy breach case seriously.
