The first prototype of the train will be built by the year 2022 and will be taken for public use after testing. The rolling stock of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor will be prepared at Savardi plant of Mobardier in Gujarat.

New Delhi: The first look of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train has come to the fore. This will be the first train in India to run at 180 kmph. On the other hand, this train is being constructed under 'Make in India'. The first look of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train was announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.


Durgashankar Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, said that infrastructure is one of the five pillars of a self-reliant India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is a matter of great pride that this high speed train for RRTS is being built entirely under the government's 'Make in India'.


The Secretary said environmentally friendly, energy efficient trains made of stainless steel will improve the quality of life in the NCR by boosting economic growth, creating economic opportunities and reducing air pollution, congestion and accidents. Its speed will be 180 kilometers per hour.


He said the train would be light in weight and air-conditioned. Each will have wide plug-in type automatic doors. In addition there will be onboard WiFi facility with overhead luggage rack, mobile, laptop charging socket and other commuter central facilities.
