 Unlock-5: Schools to reopen from October 15 amid corona situation, find out what different states have decided to reopen schools




The schools will reopen from October 15 as per the Unlock-5 guideline announced by the central government. However, several states, including Delhi, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh, have decided not to open schools at present. The Gujarat state government has also made it clear in advance that consideration will be given to reopening the school only after Diwali. On the other hand, some states like Haryana and Meghalaya have not yet taken a decision on this.


Schools will be partially open from September 21

Under the earlier Unlock-4 guidelines, the government had allowed the school to be partially open for students from Std-9 to Std-12 from September 21. However, still most parents are not in favor of sending their children to school amid corona conditions. Of course, following the Unlock-5 guideline, which came into force on October 1, the school is now reopening on October 15. The final decision for this will be taken by the state governments.


Delhi: The Delhi government has decided to keep the school closed till October 31. The situation will then be reviewed and a decision will be taken to reopen the school.


Uttar Pradesh: The state government has announced that schools outside the containment zone may resume from October 19 for students from Std-9 to Std-12. However parental approval will be required to attend school.


Gujarat: The state government has said it may consider reopening the school only after Diwali.


Karnataka: Regarding the reopening of the school, the Karnataka government said it was in no hurry to reopen the school and would take a decision only after studying all the aspects.


Chhattisgarh: The government has decided to close schools in the state till further orders in view of the epidemic situation. On the other hand, the Maharashtra government has also decided to close the school after Diwali until the condition of Kovid-19 is reviewed.


Meghalaya: The Meghalaya government has sought the views of parents and other stakeholders before taking a final decision on reopening schools in the state.


Punducherry: The government has announced that classes for students from Std-9 to Std-12 have been started from October 8. According to Rudra Gowda, head of education in Pondicherry, classes will run for half a day six days a week till further orders.


In Haryana-Haryana, the government is considering reopening the school for students from class VI to standard-9 so that it can seek guidance from teachers, though no final decision has been taken yet.

Andhra Pradesh: The state government has decided not to resume classes under normal conditions till November 2. The West Bengal chief minister, on the other hand, said a decision on reopening the schools would be taken in November.
