Good news for motorists: you don't have to have a minimum balance in Fastag, you can pass a toll plaza even if you have a small amount in your wallet

There was a problem at the toll plaza due to the condition of minimum balance

Toll plazas will now be allowed to pass even if there is no negative balance

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has given good news to motorists. NHAI has removed the minimum balance limit in Fastag. However, only passenger segment vehicles will benefit. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed in it.

The bank will not be forced to maintain a minimum balance

According to a statement issued by NHAI, the bank issuing the fastag cannot mandate a minimum balance except for a security deposit. Can't even put pressure on customers about this. So far many banks have been asking customers to maintain a minimum balance in addition to a security deposit. Due to the minimum balance requirement, many motorists cannot pass through the toll plaza even though they have a sufficient amount in their fastag wallet. This is because of the controversy over the toll plaza.

If the balance is not negative then the car will pass through the toll

According to NHAI, the decision was taken to facilitate the movement of vehicles on the toll plaza. If the fastag does not have a negative balance, the car will be allowed to cross the toll plaza. After passing the toll plaza, the bank charges Fasteg from the security deposit if his balance becomes negative. The amount of security deposit will be met after the next recharge.
