It is very difficult to recreate a water ID card after it is lost or damaged. Now the Election Commission has rectified this problem. Water ID can be downloaded from today. Until January 31, only those voters who have applied in November-December last year will be able to take their water ID in digital format. This facility will be available to all voters from February 1.


The Election Commission has launched the E-EPIC scheme on National Waters Day. EPIC stands for Electoral Photo Identity Card. This will allow you to download your Water ID to your mobile. An print of it can also be taken. Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad inaugurated it on Monday. Meanwhile, five new voters were given e-water cards.


The wait to get a water ID is over

No need to wait for water ID after starting this facility. It can be downloaded as soon as the name is included in the water list. Water can print this card, laminate it or store it digitally as per convenience.

The E-EPIC will be different from the plastic water card issued to new voters. It can also be uploaded to Digilocker.

KYC must be done before downloading E-EPIC. After getting this facility, Water will not need to create a new card frequently when the address changes. A single e-epic will suffice for this. It can be downloaded anew with the address changed in the QR code.

Voters who have lost or damaged their Water ID card will be able to download the duplicate card for free. At present you have to pay 25 rupees for this.

The move will move forward with the One Nation-One Election Card scheme.

How can you download e-EPIC?


First you have to go to the site of Water Portal, Water Helpline Mobile App or National Water Service Portal to download e-EPIC.

The website of Water Portal is http://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ and the site of NVSP is https://nvsp.in/. You can also download the Water Mobile app from Google Play.

If you want to download the e-EPIC, but the e-EPIC number is lost, you can search the Electoral Form at http://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ or http://electoralsearch.in/. Here you can get your e-EPIC number.

These steps have to be followed to download e-EPIC

1. To download e-EPIC you have to go to http://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ or https://nvsp.in/ or Water Helpline app.

2. Register or login yourself on the water portal.

3. Then go to the menu and click on download e-EPIC.

4. Enter the EPIC number or the form reference number.

5. Verify the number from OTP.

6. Click on Download EPIC.

7. If the mobile number is second on the card then complete the KYC process.

8. It can also do face liveness verification.

9. e-EPIC can be downloaded by updating the new number using KYC.
