The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has announced new rules for its customers in the Provident Fund Account (PF Account). EPFO has given permission to PF account holders to correct father's name, date of birth etc. But now it has tightened the security of PF account. The PF account will no longer be able to change its name and profile in the account. According to the EPFO, due to the online correction in the profiles of PF accounts, the records are being mismatched and this is likely to lead to fraud.

To deal with this the Employees Provident Fund Organization has decided to tighten the rules and has issued guidelines for this. New guidelines need to be introduced as EPFO ​​has observed some cases of withdrawal of rupee from PF account. According to the EPFO, corrections in the member's profile are allowed to correct errors in name, father's / husband's name, date of birth and gender.

According to the new guidelines, the details of shareholders in a PF account will no longer be exchanged without paper documentation. However, minor name changes are allowed. But now the EPFO ​​will check the credentials before any major changes take place. Only then will the profile change. The EPFO ​​said in its circular that regional offices should not amend the records of any subscribers without any paper evidence.
