Reliance Jio has successfully tested its 5G technology in the US in collaboration with American technology company Qualcomm. The announcement was made at a virtual event in San Diego, USA. "Together with Qualcomm and Reliance's subsidiary Radices, we are working on 5G technology so that it can be launched in India soon," Matthew Oman, president of Reliance Jio, said at the Qualcomm event.

Get speeds up to 1Gbps

Geo and Qualcomm announced that they have achieved speeds of over 1Gbps on Reliance Geo 5GNR Solutions and Qualcomm 5G RAN platforms. Currently, 5G customers in countries like USA, South Korea, Australia, Switzerland and Germany are getting 1Gbps internet speed worldwide. The feature will soon be available in India as well.

Qualcomm has invested Rs 730 crore in Geo

In July this year, Qualcomm Inc., the investment unit of Qualcomm Ventures, announced an investment in Geo Platforms. Qualcomm had invested Rs 730 crore in Geo Platforms for a 0.15% stake.

5G was announced in July

Just 3 months ago, on July 15, Reliance Jio owner Mukesh Ambani announced the launch of 5G technology at a general meeting of Reliance Industries. Handing over the technology developed using local resources, Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance Jio is ready for testing of 5G technology as soon as 5G spectrum becomes available and after successful testing of 5G technology, Reliance will focus on the export of this technology.
