To reduce road accidents and increase public safety, the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner has issued a notification regarding speed limit. Speed ​​limits have been set on expressways, national highways, state highways and other routes in the city falling under the jurisdiction of the city police commissioner.


In urban areas, two-wheeler drivers will have to drive at a speed of 60 and four-wheeler drivers at a speed of 40. While transportation vehicles can run at a speed of 60 in urban areas. If the speed is high, the traffic police will take legal action by registering the crime of violating the declaration. However, this declaration will not apply to vehicles ranging from ambulances to firefighters, police and administration vehicles.

In addition, a speed of 50 has been fixed for the cab. However, the speed of transportation in urban areas as well as vehicles with more than eight passengers should be less. This is because such a vehicle is more prone to accidents. Which leads to the death of innocent people.

Gujarat ranks 10th in road accidents in the country

The number of road accidents and deaths due to them is on the rise. During the year 2017, 18 thousand 81 road accidents took place in Gujarat out of which 7289 people died. Thus, Gujarat ranks 10th among the states with the highest number of road accidents in India. The number of accidents due to hit and run in Gujarat has also increased alarmingly.
