To reduce road accidents and increase public safety, the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner has issued a notification regarding speed limit. Speed limits have been set on expressways, national highways, state highways and other routes in the city falling under the jurisdiction of the city police commissioner.
In urban areas, two-wheeler drivers will have to drive at a speed of 60 and four-wheeler drivers at a speed of 40. While transportation vehicles can run at a speed of 60 in urban areas. If the speed is high, the traffic police will take legal action by registering the crime of violating the declaration. However, this declaration will not apply to vehicles ranging from ambulances to firefighters, police and administration vehicles.
