Find out why a raw diet may not be your thing!
A trend, a fad, or something that doesn’t work for you!
Everything has a trend; likewise, eating raw food is one of the most popular diet trends these days. People either trying to stay fit or just willing to lose weight are opting for a raw diet plan as it is accepted that the diet is full of nutrients, low in calories, and high in fiber. The idea of a raw diet emerged from the fact that heating food destroys nutrients. Let’s see why there’s a big NO before consuming a raw diet!
Are you facing any digestion problems?
This is very obvious that raw food is very hard to digest as the nutrients do not break down easily inside the body, whereas cooked food breaks down easily in the stomach, and hence it is easy to digest nutrients from cooked food. People having sensitive stomachs may face serious stomach aches due to indigestion, vomiting or loose stools while consuming raw food. If you find this scenario matching with yours, I would suggest you stop being on a raw diet, my friend.
A raw diet is not providing you with enough nutrition!
Well! You might be shocked to hear this, if you are on a raw diet, you are lacking nutrients like Vitamin B 12, Vitamin D and Zinc. Research was done on raw diet participants, and it was found that they are lacking these nutrients, which is serious as it can cause serious health issue such as anemia , infertility, heart disease etc. In order to consume a good amount of nutrients through a raw diet, you are harming your body by not providing enough of it through your diet plan.
Feeling weak?
Most of the time, raw food diet tends to be low in calcium and vitamin D, which usually help in strengthening our bones. This results in the weakness of muscles and bones. Comparing a raw diet with a cooked diet, it is seen that cooked food provides more calcium nutrients than raw ones. This might result in osteoporosis; it’s a condition where your bones become weak and brittle.
Are you consuming clean and hygienic food?
Since childhood, we were taught in schools and at our home to wash the food before eating. Likewise, it is also said that heating food destroys the bacteria present in it; also, during the monsoon season, bacterial and viral infections are at their peak, which might cause vomiting and diarrhea . So, washing and cooking the vegetables will kill the bacteria and will keep you safe from different bacteria like E. coli etc.
