The concept of this suite was brought by Peter Salesman, a professional wingsuit pilot / base jumper / sky diver / paragliding instructor and tandem pilot. A collaboration took place between BMW Eye and Design Works, after which this wingsuit was designed. Now Peter has tested by wearing this suit. His video has also been shared on YouTube.
How much power does this wingsuit have?
This is the electric wingsuit with which Peter managed to fly. The speed of a normal wingsuit is up to 100kmph. But it is designed in such a way that the speed is more than 300kmph.
This electric wingsuit, designed by BMW Eye, is fitted with two carbon propellers, impellers for the fly. Each of them generates a 7.5kw power output.
Its speed is about 25,000rpm and the total output is up to 15kW or 20bhp. However, right now this is only for 5 minutes. This suite is currently being used on a testing level.
Jumped from a height of 9,800 feet
During first testing, the salesman, along with two other wingsuit operators, jumped down from a helicopter at an altitude of 9,800 feet. This testing was done with complete safety on the mountains of Austria. All wingsuit pilots were able to fly around the foothills of the mountains. The salesman used the wingsuit when he almost came close to the mountains. Eventually he landed using a parachute.
