 CAQM Orders Delhi to Enforce Strict Pollution Control Measures After the Capital’s Air Turns ‘Poor’

In the last 24 hours, Delhi’s air quality has witnessed a unforeseen dip and slipped into the ‘ poor ’ order. 

 

 The Commission for Air Quality Management( CAQM) has ordered Delhi to apply measures under ‘ stage- 1 ’ of the Graded Response Action Plan( GRAP) in the public capital region. The order arrived after Delhi’s air quality witnessed a unforeseen dip in the last 24 hours and slipped into the ‘ poor ’ order.

 “ It was noted that there has been a unforeseen dip in air quality parameters in the last 24 hours in the region which led to the AQI for Delhi moving into the ‘ POOR ’ order. While this is likely to be a localisation influence and the vaccination don't prognosticate any farther deterioration, in an trouble to maintain the AQI in the moderate order, as a preventative measure, the sub-committee decided that ALL conduct as imaged under Stage I of the GRAP ‘ Poor ’ Air Quality( DELHI AQI ranging between 201- 300), be enforced in right humorless by all the agencies concerned, with immediate effect in the NCR, ” read the order issued by CAQM.

 Construction banned 

On Wednesday, the CAQM ordered an immediate ban on all construction and obliteration conditioning that cover over 500 sqm. and aren't registered on the web doors created by the governments of Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. 

 

 Under stage 1 of GRAP, there are 24 measures to control air pollution. piecemeal from banning construction and obliteration, the pollution control boards of the public capital region are likely to sprinkle water on roads, give guidelines regarding the operation of anti-smog ordnance on construction spots and apply a ban on open burning of waste and PUC( pollution under control morals) for vehicles. 

A ban on firecrackers is likely to be executed during Diwali and DISCO'S are to minimize power force dislocations.

 A set of exigency measures taken to reduce air pollution, GRAP was launched in 2017 to deal with the poor air quality of Delhi and the public capital region. Under GRAP, there are several step- by- step measures that the citizens of the mentioned areas also must follow. For illustration, the public must maintain the PUC of their vehicles, tune their vehicles duly, turn off the machine during a red light,etc.
