Modi government to provide 1 crore free LPG connection, cylinder booking rule also changed
The Modi government has further expanded the scope of Ujjwala Yojna. 1 crore more free connections will be provided in the next 2 years under the scheme. Apart from this, the Modi government has also changed the booking rules to improve the supply of cylinders. After the change, LPG customers will be able to book at 3 dealers simultaneously.
The scope of Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana has been further extended. Oil Secretary Tarun Kapoor has said that work will be done to distribute crores of free connections in the next two years.
The government is trying to ensure that cylinders are delivered to every household through the Ujjawala scheme. People will be given connection even for less documents. The government claims that connection proof will also be provided.

The Ujjawala scheme is being prepared to benefit about 1 crore more people. It is clear that it will also cost a hefty budget though it is a different matter that the budget does not provide for allocation for this scheme separately. The government says that the work of allocating connections will be completed easily in the current subsidy.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana has so far provided free connections to more than 80 million people. The budget states that so far 10 million people have been deprived of LPG connections who will also be given free connections through the Ujjawala scheme.

It also happens occasionally with LPG customers that the supply is not available for 4-5 days after booking the cylinder. In the meantime, if the cylinder runs out, people get in a lot of trouble, the Modi government has come up with a solution. Bookings can now be made at 3 dealers simultaneously and can be taken from where the cylinder is available as soon as possible.
